
The History of Production
The history of our company goes back to the times of Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Our ancestors, the Marzarri family, originally from a small place Trabaco in the vicinity of Padova, owned a building where today’s cod production facility is situated.
In former Yugoslavia the Banko family opened a well-known restaurant „9th September“ in this same building, where they prepared cod for their customers.
In the late 1980s, Petar Banko, the son of experienced caterers, went to Germany to get professional training. There he acquired new knowledge on managing catering establishments and significant experience in culinary art and gastronomy.
Upon his return from Germany, the Banko family opened the first delicatessen shop where alongside other delicacies they prepared cod in bianco.
Thanks to its original recipe, the cod soon won over the people of Istria and has become a part of a regular gastronomic offer of more prominent local tourist festivities. It became much sought-after in Poreč and beyond.
From one generation to another, the smell of cod has been spreading through our house, so we can rightly say that „cod is in our genes“.
In 1993 we opened our first facilities for cod production and its production and preparation started having more and more success.
Today our company Alden Ltd. produces cod for all the major retail chains and numerous catering establishments in Croatia. We do business according to the highest standards which satisfy high sanitary requirements.
Owing to our esteemed customers, we continue to follow the trend of producing high quality products and devotedly promote healthy eating.
